The Anteo tugboat from Panart – Mantua Model is an exceptional kit that faithfully reproduces a small Italian harbor tug built in 1938 at the La Spezia shipyards.
Originally designed as a steam tug, it was used for delicate docking and undocking maneuvers in ports, where large ships could not operate. This robust type of vessel rendered invaluable service in Southern Europe until the 1970s.
Today, the 1/30 scale Anteo model is offered as a high-quality wooden kit, designed for both naval modeling enthusiasts and collectors. Versatile, it can be displayed as a static model or converted into a radio-controlled sailing version.

A detailed wooden model true to the original
The hull is made of wood, with a keel and frames pre-cut by laser, then planked with wooden strips. The superstructures are also built from precisely cut wooden parts. The real wooden deck and the harmonious lines of the vessel make it particularly pleasant to admire, whether displayed or used on the water.
The Panart – Mantua Model kit includes many realistic accessories:
• Cast and turned metal fittings,
• Photo-etched brass details,
• Fine elements such as bulwarks and windows,
• Fully illustrated building plans and instructions.
Thanks to its solid wood construction, this boat can even be adapted to house a steam engine (such as the Alex Horizontal, specially recommended for this model).
RC installation and possible motorization
The Anteo tugboat kit is designed to be equipped with an electric motor and RC installation. With minor modifications, it can also accommodate a steam engine or even thermal propulsion.
Recommended RC configuration:
• Pro-Tronik PTR-06 or HelloRadio V16 PRO transmitter,
• Pro-Tronik servo for rudder,
• Max Power 700 or 900 electric motor,
• Hobbywing Quicrun 1060 (60A) speed controller,
• 3S LiPo battery 3300–4200 mAh,
• Brass 4-blade propeller, 60 mm,
• Coupling between motor and shaft.
For extra hull strength during navigation, it is recommended to add fiberglass reinforcement.
