The O.S. GF-40 Gasoline Engine was developed to meet the needs of model aircraft enthusiasts looking for a powerful, reliable engine perfectly suited for large radio-controlled airplanes.
With its 4-stroke architecture, it delivers generous torque at low speeds, providing smooth takeoffs, gradual climbs, and particularly realistic flying characteristics.
Its design also prioritizes user comfort. The engine maintains smooth operation throughout its speed range and produces a sound typical of real aviation engines, highly appreciated in warbirds, touring planes, tow planes, and scale models.
One of the main advantages of the GF-40 lies in its excellent energy efficiency.
Operating on gasoline significantly reduces consumption compared to an equivalent glow engine, while increasing flight endurance.
This low consumption is a benefit for pilots who regularly engage in long flight sessions or use their plane for glider towing.
Since fuel is also easier to find and generally less expensive, the operating cost remains particularly attractive in the long run.
The GF-40 was designed to simplify its integration into existing airframes.
Thanks to its optimized dimensions, it easily fits many large radio-controlled airplanes designed for gasoline engines or powerful 4-stroke glow engines.
Its significant engine torque allows it to effectively power:
This versatility makes it a highly sought-after powerplant for projects requiring power and realism.
The GF-40 accepts various propeller sizes to adjust the aircraft's behavior to the desired performance.
A larger diameter propeller will enhance traction and realism on a scale model, while a speed-oriented propeller will suit sport and aerobatic planes perfectly.
The engine's behavior is one of its main qualities.
Accelerations are gradual, throttle responses are crisp, and the engine speed remains particularly stable throughout the flight.
This flexibility facilitates approaches, go-arounds, and slow maneuvers, while instantly providing full power when needed.
After a properly conducted break-in following the manufacturer's recommendations, adjustments remain minimal, reducing the need for interventions between flights.
The GF-40 benefits from all the experience gained by O.S. Engines in designing thermal engines for modeling.
Each component undergoes precise machining to ensure excellent wear resistance and perfectly regular operation. This quality of manufacturing helps preserve the engine's performance for many years when maintained properly.
Efficient cylinder head cooling also helps maintain a stable temperature, even during prolonged use.
The engine comes with the main accessories necessary for its commissioning.
This package allows for quick installation on most compatible models.
The GF-40 Gas Engine is aimed at hobbyists looking to benefit from the flexibility of a 4-stroke engine combined with the advantages of gasoline fuel.
Its controlled consumption, high torque, and realistic sound make it particularly suitable for large radio-controlled airplanes.
True to O.S. Engines' quality standards, it offers an excellent balance between performance, reliability, and ease of use.
Whether for a sport plane, a scale model, or a tow plane, the GF-40 is a benchmark for enthusiasts looking for a powerful engine designed to last.
The engine runs on:
O.S. recommends a ratio between 25:1 and 50:1, depending on the break-in phase and the oil used.
The F-6040 is included as standard.
It offers:
