When to use an O.S. RP6 TURBO spark plug?

The RP6 TURBO is especially suitable for:

• high-performance nitro engines,
• turbo plug engines,
• sporting or competition uses,
• high external temperatures,
• highly compressed engines,
• fuels rich in nitromethane.

I particularly recommend it if you are looking for:

• a more stable engine at high speeds,
• better resistance to high temperatures,
• more engine precision,
• a more consistent performance under intensive use.

Compatible Engine Types

The O.S. RP6 TURBO mainly works on:

• 1/8 scale RC competition buggies,
• thermal truggies,
• nitro RC track cars,
• certain high-performance RC airplane engines equipped with a turbo head.

Please note, it is only compatible with engines using a turbo spark plug.

A turbo spark plug has:

• a conical shape,
• a specific housing in the cylinder head,
• a better combustion chamber.

Therefore, it cannot replace a standard spark plug.

Hot, medium, or cold plug?

The RP6 TURBO is generally considered a rather cold to medium-cold plug.

This means it works very well:

• in hot weather,
• on very powerful engines,
• under intensive use,
• with a lot of nitro.

It helps limit:

• overheating,
• pre-ignition,
• high-speed misfires.

When to avoid the RP6 TURBO?

I do not necessarily recommend it:

• in very cold weather,
• on small hobby engines,
• for beginners,
• on engines that are difficult to tune,
• on standard engines without a turbo head.

In these situations, a hotter plug like an O.S. P3 or an O.S. No. 8 is often easier to use.

My opinion on the O.S. RP6 TURBO

Honestly, the RP6 TURBO is an excellent spark plug for high-performance thermal RC engines. It becomes very interesting when:

• the engine heats up a lot,
• the external temperatures rise,
• you drive aggressively,
• or that you are looking for very precise engine settings.

It is particularly appreciated in thermal RC competition for its stability and high-speed resistance.
