While a simple charger may be sufficient for occasional use, a smart charger may be preferable for more intensive use. How do you choose your battery charger ?
There are a number of factors to consider when choosing a battery charger. Your charger should allow you to control the charging time, be compatible with the batteries you are using and be able to check the charging status.

In model aviation, for example, it is rare for an electrically powered aircraft to last more than 30 minutes on a single charge. The charging time, on the other hand, rarely falls below one hour. It is therefore important to choose a device that allows for rapid charging. There are many different types of batteries. Before choosing a charger, you’ll need to check that it is compatible with your battery. Battery technologies vary between the different types of battery like Lipo, Li-Ion, Ni-CD and Ni-MH and have different voltages and capacities. To avoid confusion, we recommend buying your batteries and charger at the same time.
Generally speaking, a simple charger, although cheaper, will not allow you to see the charge level of your battery. Opt for a smart charger for a more advanced product. In addition to providing you with all the information on its charged status, it is also possible to programme them. A charger can only charge a limited number of batteries, but some will allow you to distribute the charge for optimum efficiency.
How do you maintain your battery charger?
