The Bavarian S3/6 locomotive was developed by the manufacturer J.A. Maffei in Munich.
The first unit was delivered on July 16, 1908. Its Pacific type configuration, with three driving axles and large diameter wheels, was suitable for fast passenger trains and long-distance routes.
The performance of this locomotive allowed it to remain in production for several decades.
German railways continued to order versions of the S3/6 until 1931.
It notably pulled the Orient Express and the Rheingold, a prestigious train launched in 1928.
Its use was not limited to Bavarian lines: it also participated in international connections linking several major European cities.
Retired from service in 1966, the S3/6 remains associated with an important period in German railway history.
Several units have been preserved, including locomotive 18 478, which can still operate under steam.
The OcCre model allows you to reproduce this characteristic silhouette and integrate it into a collection dedicated to historical locomotives.
With 2,342 parts and an estimated 500 hours of work, this model train assembly requires time, precision, and good organization. Its expert level is intended for modelers accustomed to complex kits.
The laser-cut wooden boards facilitate the fitting of structural and cladding elements, while the photo-etched brass parts and zamak molded details complete the reproduction.
Prepare a stable, well-lit workspace with enough space to sort the parts.
Have tools suitable for cutting and sanding, glue compatible with the materials, and accessories to hold the elements during drying.
Consult the downloadable instructions before starting, then carefully check each adjustment to avoid errors that could complicate subsequent steps.
The tools, accessories, and products needed for assembling and finishing the model are not included.

The OcCre S3/6 BR-18 model combines several materials to reproduce the different parts of the locomotive.
The types of wood are selected according to the function of the pieces, from the structure to the visible finishes.
The photo-etched brass elements allow for fine details, while the zamak molded parts complete the accessories and complex shapes.
Before gluing, check the position of the parts and lightly sand the surfaces that require it.
If you want to paint your miniature locomotive, separately prepare the paints and finishing products.
Work in controlled layers and test the finish on a piece of wood before treating the visible surfaces.
You can thus choose a finish suitable for representing the locomotive, especially its historical bottle green livery.
With its 720 mm length, 100 mm width, and 153 mm height, the S3/6 BR-18 requires a sufficiently long display space.
An appropriate base or showcase allows you to present the locomotive and its details without repeated handling.
To create a diorama, you can imagine a scene inspired by a large German station or a passenger line from the early 20th century.
A setting evoking the Orient Express or the Rheingold would place the locomotive in its historical context.
Check the dimensions of the decorative elements and their compatibility with the 1/32 scale.
The rails, network, and staging accessories are to be planned separately: they are not indicated as included in the kit.
This historical train model is suitable for European locomotive enthusiasts, steam train enthusiasts, and modelers looking for a particularly detailed construction project.
Its expert level, 2,342 pieces, and estimated 500 hours of assembly require prior experience and sufficient availability.
Once completed, this miniature locomotive becomes a display piece for a collection dedicated to railway modeling and the history of high-speed passenger trains.
