The Westland Lysander was primarily designed as an army cooperation aircraft but gained fame for delivering and retrieving secret agents (SOE) from France during World War II.

Its Short Takeoff and Landing (STOL) capability, good payload, and reasonable speed made it ideal for this role.

Black Horse's version is based on the MkIII and its livery mimics that of an aircraft preserved at the RAF Museum in Hendon. Several Lysanders still fly today out of the 1800 units built.

With a wingspan of 2.54 meters, it is certainly not a small model, but like all Black Horse models, its clever design allows for easy assembly and disassembly, fitting into a standard car.

The Lysander is a complex aircraft, and Black Horse has faithfully preserved the overall shape of the original. Small modifications have been made to suit the needs of a model, especially in the wing mounting area, but this does not detract from the aircraft's overall lines.

The wing shape has been slightly adapted, but you would have to look very closely to notice it!

Like all Black Horse models, construction is done using laser-cut balsa and plywood parts, carefully assembled by skilled personnel using special jigs, and then hand-finished.

The amount of care and skill invested in each model is very evident when you open the box.

The covering is done with specially printed heat-shrink film, and the plastic/fiberglass components are carefully spray-painted to match. This is a technique that Black Horse has perfected over the years. With its low wing loading and highly effective flaps, the Lysander's STOL performance can be fully utilized.

Even the landing gear is designed with suitable suspensions for our grass flying fields in France, making it a very practical model to use. Just fit an appropriate gasoline engine like the OS GT-33 and the GF-40, and the performance will be surprisingly lively.

Even the recommended electric power combination will not lack power! The choice of power source is up to you.

It is not designed for aerobatics, and the control power reflects this. It's all about scale performance and control coordination, especially with ailerons and rudder.

While it can be flown with a 6-channel radio, we recommend using 8 channels to experiment with aileron and flap combinations that truly represent what the Lysander is about.

If you are looking for something different, both easy to fly and extremely realistic in appearance, the Lysander is an excellent choice.
