The shuttle itself is made more realistic by the two boosters flanking the orbiter. It remains horizontal until you press the button to activate the crawler system on the launch pad, which then raises the shuttle vertically. The tower's robotic arms rotate 90 degrees and retract, lights flash six times on the tower to signal imminent liftoff, and LED "flames" light up under the rockets.
