HMS Resolution is laid down at Palmers Shipbuilding and Iron Company in Jarrow on November 29, 1913, launched on January 14, 1915, and commissioned on December 30, 1916.
From 1916 to 1919, Resolution served with the 1st Battle Squadron of the Grand Fleet. During the interwar period, it joined the Atlantic Fleet, except for a brief period of modernization in 1930-1931.
