Model Plastic airplane model P-47D Thunderbolt Razorback 1:24
The P-47 was an imposing high-altitude fighter (7 tons) and very powerful, commonly known as "the Jug". The project started in 1939. Deliveries began in late 1942. In total, 15,683 units of this American fighter were built during World War II. Originally designed as an interceptor, the P-47 later proved to be an exceptional combat aircraft, both for bomber escort and ground attack missions. Its great structural strength and imposing radial engine allowed it to better withstand damage than other aircraft. P-47D. This model was the main production version, with 6,315 units built. This aircraft was powered by a water-injection version of the 2,000 hp R-2800 engine, giving it a maximum speed of 433 mph at 30,000 feet. P-47 models prior to the D-25 were nicknamed "Razorbacks".
