In 1967, Phil Kraft became the FAI Aerobatic World Champion with his own model, the Kwik-Fli Mk III.
Although there were more elegant models, this one became famous, probably simply because it won the world championship, and it was then built and enjoyed by many modelers around the world.
He was a pioneer of proportional radio control and exploited the potential of this new technology through his own model designs.
The Kwik-Fli can be considered the culmination of a step in the evolution of radio-controlled model flight, when, for the first time, the equipment allowed for total and real control of the aircraft.
It seems typical of Phil Kraft to have found the simplest and most effective design to achieve this goal.
Another classic from designer Phil Kraft, the Kwik-Fli III represents the third generation of the Kwik-Fli series, and was the grand winner of the 1967 national and international championships.
The concept of the Kwik-Fli series was to design an airplane with a simple and basic approach to a competition aircraft, resulting in an aircraft that is both simple and high-performing, which, to quote the designer, "traces smooth trajectories in aerobatic maneuvers".
The Kwik-Fly MK3, a low-wing model, is a well-thought-out design, considered one of the best in terms of flight qualities.
Its flight characteristics are so balanced and easy to master that even an RC pilot wishing to delve into aerobatics can use it effortlessly as a training model.
