The OV-10 Bronco is a multi-purpose aircraft designed by North American for ground attack, reconnaissance and artillery guidance. It was used during the Vietnam War and in the fight against narcotics in Colombia, where it is still in service. The OV-10 was developed in response to the US Navy's LARA (Light Armed Reconnaissance Aeroplane) program, aimed at acquiring an anti-guerrilla aircraft. North American's NA-300 won the competition among nine American manufacturers in August 1964. The aircraft features a double-beam structure and is powered by two AiResearch T76 turbines, each rated at 668 hp. The first production aircraft made its maiden flight on August 6, 1967.
