Initial D: The Manga That Made Drift Legendary

For enthusiasts of RC drift cars, Japanese sports cars, and automotive culture, Initial D is an essential reference.

First published in 1995 and imagined by Shuichi Shigeno, this manga has become a true global phenomenon.

It has greatly contributed to introducing Japanese drifting to the general public and has inspired an entire generation of drivers, car tuners, and enthusiasts of radio-controlled drift cars.

The story follows Takumi Fujiwara, a young high school student who delivers tofu every morning at the wheel of his father's Toyota AE86 Trueno.

Without really realizing it, he develops over the years an exceptional mastery of driving on mountain roads. His natural talent quickly attracts the attention of the best drivers in the region, leading to a series of races as spectacular as they are technical.

Among the most iconic characters is Keisuke Takahashi, a member of the famous RedSuns team.

His weapon is a magnificent yellow Mazda RX-7 FD3S, which has become one of the most famous cars in the entire history of the manga.

Equipped with a rotary engine and a particularly agile chassis, the RX-7 is perfectly suited for drifting and quickly establishes itself as a true icon of JDM culture.

Throughout the chapters and episodes, the confrontations between Takumi Fujiwara and Keisuke Takahashi are among the most memorable moments of the series.

Their driving mastery, perfectly controlled slides, and precise trajectories have greatly contributed to popularizing drifting worldwide.
