The Dassault Rafale is a French multirole fighter aircraft equipped with two engines and featuring a delta wing configuration.
This aircraft was designed and developed by the French aircraft manufacturer Dassault Aviation. Its main objective was to replace several older aircraft used by the French armed forces, including the SEPECAT Jaguar of the Air Force and the F-8 Crusader of the Navy.
The Rafale prototype made its first flight on July 4, 1986. Several years later, the first production aircraft flew for the first time on December 4, 1998, before being delivered to the French Air Force.
The Rafale family includes three main versions: the Rafale C, the Rafale B, and the Rafale M.
The Rafale M is the single-seat version designed for operations conducted from an aircraft carrier within the French Navy.
Designed for carrier-based missions, it uses the same weapons and navigation system as the other versions of the Rafale.
Its structure has been adapted to operate on an aircraft carrier, while retaining most of the technical characteristics of the land-based versions.
