Modeling cyano glue, epoxy modeling glue, EPO foam glue, balsa wood glue, plastic model glue... there are a lot of solutions available today.

And honestly, I understand why many modelers hesitate before making a purchase.

In RC modeling, the choice of glue can make a huge difference. Poor quality glue can ruin an entire construction.

Conversely, a good ZAP glue or a good Super Glue Pacer often results in a much stronger, cleaner, and more durable model.

So, I will explain simply what the best cyano glue is, what the best epoxy glue is, and especially which modeling glue to choose according to your needs.

Whether you are building a remote-controlled plane, an RC car, an RC boat, or a plastic model, some glues are clearly more suitable than others.

What is the best cyano glue for modeling?

When talking about the best cyano glue, modelers often think of ZAP adhesives.

And honestly, I find this reputation well-deserved.

In RC modeling, cyano modeling glue is probably the most commonly used adhesive.

It allows for quick and precise work while maintaining an excellent level of strength.

A good cyano modeling glue can bond:

balsa wood,
plywood,
carbon fiber,
fiberglass,
some RC foams,
plastic,
metal.

It is this versatility that makes cyano glue almost indispensable in a modeling workshop.

Why has ZAP glue become a reference?

When I look for reliable modeling glue, I often turn to ZAP adhesive.

Why? Because the brand offers adhesives specifically designed for RC modeling.

Unlike some conventional DIY glues, ZAP adhesives are tailored to the requirements of RC planes, remote-controlled cars, or technical models.

The famous ZAP-A-GAP has indeed become a global reference.

Many enthusiasts consider ZAP-A-GAP to be the best cyano glue for modeling.

I completely understand this view. It offers an excellent balance between setting speed, strength, and ease of use.

Thin or medium cyano: which one to choose?

This is probably one of the most searched questions on Google: thin or medium cyano?

The answer mainly depends on the type of bonding.

Personally, for beginners, I often recommend a medium cyano. I believe it is the best all-around cyano glue for RC modeling.

It remains fluid enough to work cleanly while offering more control than an ultra-thin cyano.

ZAP-A-GAP: an essential modeling cyano glue

It's impossible to talk about the best cyano glue without mentioning ZAP-A-GAP.

This green ZAP glue has almost become legendary in the modeling world.

I find it particularly useful for:

RC planes,
technical models,
RC cars,
remote-controlled boats.

ZAP-A-GAP has a huge advantage: it can slightly fill small gaps between parts.

This is extremely useful for certain balsa structures or quick repairs.

I also find that it offers excellent mechanical strength for a modeling cyano glue.

What glue for RC plane?

When building a radio-controlled plane, several types of glues are often necessary.

For me, a good glue for RC planes should be:

lightweight,
resistant,
fast,
suitable for modern materials.

Here are the solutions I most often recommend:

I sincerely believe that using suitable glue greatly improves the lifespan of an RC plane.

Which EPO foam glue to choose?

EPO foam glue has become essential with the massive arrival of foam RC planes.

Many beginners use standard cyano on EPO or EPP. Result: the foam melts immediately.

That's why it's important to use foam-safe glue.

A good foam-safe glue allows for quick repairs on an RC plane without attacking the material.

ZAP glues compatible with foam are highly regarded in this field.

I also advise never to use too much EPO foam glue. A small amount is usually sufficient in most cases.

What is the best epoxy glue for modeling?

Although modeling cyano glue is very popular, a good modeling epoxy glue remains absolutely essential.

When an extremely strong bond is needed, epoxy glue often becomes the best solution.

This is especially true on:

thermal RC planes,
powerful boats,
carbon reinforcements,
landing gear,
highly stressed parts.

For me, the best epoxy glue must above all withstand vibrations and mechanical stresses.

Why is modeling epoxy glue so strong?

Modeling epoxy glue works thanks to two components:

a resin,
a hardener.

Once mixed, they create an extremely strong bond.

This is precisely what makes modeling epoxy glue so popular in demanding RC modeling.

I find that Z-Poxy glues are among the best references in this category.

Which epoxy glue to choose?

Drying time plays a very important role.

Personally, I much prefer slow epoxy glue for important assemblies.

The bond often becomes stronger and more durable.

Cyano glue or epoxy glue?

This is a very common question: which is the best, cyano glue or epoxy glue?

In reality, both are complementary.

I find that a good cyano + epoxy combination remains the best solution in a modeling workshop.

What glue for plastic models?

When looking for which glue to use for models, it all depends on the level of detail you are looking for.

For a plastic model, I often recommend:

fluid cyano for small parts,
specialized plastic model glue for visible assemblies,
modeling epoxy glue for certain heavy parts.

Plastic model glues generally allow for more discreet and cleaner bonding.

This is particularly interesting for detailed static models.

Why are Super Glue Pacer glues still popular?

Super Glue Pacer adhesives have been used for years in modeling.

I think their success mainly comes from their reliability.

When regularly building scale models, we appreciate consistent products. We want modeling glue that always works correctly.

Super Glue Pacer and ZAP glues have precisely this reputation.

Mistakes to avoid with modeling glue

Even with the best cyano glue or the best epoxy glue, some mistakes are still common.

Using too much glue

This is probably the most common mistake.

A thin layer is usually sufficient in the majority of cases.

Choosing the wrong glue for the material

A typical EPO foam glue can destroy certain foams.

Excessively thick balsa glue can also unnecessarily weigh down a structure.

Neglecting surface preparation

I always recommend cleaning the parts before bonding.

An oily surface significantly reduces adhesion.

My opinion on the best modeling glues

If I had to recommend a simple and effective selection, I would probably choose:

a ZAP medium glue (ZAP PT08 or PT09),
a ZAP-A-GAP (ZAP PT02 or PT03),
a foam-safe glue (ZAP PT25),
a 30-minute modeling epoxy glue (ZAP PT39),
specialized plastic model glue.

I sincerely believe that there is no one universal best modeling glue.

Each material requires a tailored solution. Each scale model also has its own constraints.

But honestly, when using a good modeling cyano glue or a good modeling epoxy glue like ZAP or Super Glue Pacer, the difference is immediately visible in the final quality of the RC assembly.
