Built in 1985 in the Netherlands for the company L. Smit & Co’s International Sleepdiensten of Rotterdam, the Massbank served for twelve years in the western part of the country, in the Europoort area, one of the largest ports in Europe.

It was involved in numerous towing and rescue operations in the North Sea, operating between France and Norway.

On September 1, 1977, the vessel was transferred to a sister company, Nieuwe Vlissingse Sleepdienst, located in Vlissingen, and was then named Bankert.

This sturdy and versatile tugboat embodies the excellence of Dutch shipbuilding, known for its reliability and solidity at sea.
