History of the TITANIC.

The Titanic was a British luxury liner known to be the largest and most luxurious of its time. It is infamous for hitting an iceberg and sinking on its maiden voyage in April 1912, causing one of the greatest maritime disasters in history.

Construction and specifications:

The Titanic was built at the Harland & Wolff shipyards in Belfast, Northern Ireland.

Its construction began in 1909 and was completed in 1912.

The Titanic was approximately 269 meters long and 28 meters wide.

It had nine decks and could accommodate over 2,400 passengers and crew members.

The Titanic was renowned for its luxury and comfort at that time. It offered first, second, and third-class cabins.

First-class passengers enjoyed spacious areas, elegant dining rooms, sumptuous suites, and other luxurious amenities.

The liner also provided modern facilities for the time, such as a swimming pool, a gym, lounges, a library, and more.

The Titanic departed from Southampton, England, on April 10, 1912, for its maiden voyage to New York, USA.

However, the ship struck an iceberg on the night of April 14-15, 1912, in the North Atlantic and began to take on water.

Despite the crew's efforts to seal the leaks and evacuate the passengers, the liner sank in the cold waters of the Atlantic.

The lack of lifeboats and confusion during the evacuation contributed to the high death toll. More than 1,500 people lost their lives in the sinking.

The Titanic disaster had a huge impact on maritime regulations, leading to safety reforms for ships and life-saving equipment.

It also captured the public's imagination and has been widely discussed in the media, literature, and cinema over the decades.

The Titanic continues to exert a lasting fascination and interest worldwide, bearing witness to the human tragedy and technology of its time. Books, documentaries, and films, including James Cameron's famous 1997 film, have helped perpetuate the story of the Titanic.
