Boat model in HMS Lord Clive 1/350 plastic
HMS Lord Clive was the first British ship of the Lord Clive class. It was named in honor of the first Baron Robert Clive, a British general in the Seven Years' War who won the Battle of Plassey and became British Viceroy of India. Its main gun was a 12-inch MKVIII cannon mounted at the front of the battleship. During World War I, in the English Channel, it bombarded German positions along the Belgian coast. Later, in 1918, the Lord Clive was equipped with a single 18-inch gun, the Royal Navy's longest-range gun, but it only fired four times. However, given its performance during the war, this design proved superfluous, and at the end of the war, in 1927, the Lord Clive was cut up into small pieces to be sold.
