A historic icebreaker turned museum ship

Built in 1954, the Elbjorn served until 1996 in the Danish icebreaker fleet, ensuring maritime traffic during the harshest winters. Its mission: to keep the maritime routes clear between the ports of northern Denmark and the Baltic Sea.

On February 12, 1996, a generator explosion ended its career, but the ship managed to return to port under its own power, a final feat worthy of its reputation. Today, the Elbjorn lives a second life in Aalborg, where it has been transformed into a restaurant and museum ship, retaining all its period charm.
