SKIBLADNER "Peddal steamer" 1/60

The real Skibladner has been sailing on Lake Mjøsa since 1856. Launched on August 2nd of that year, it originally served as a passenger link between Eidsvoll station and the towns of Hamar, Gjøvik and Lillehammer.

More than 160 years later, it still follows the same route, now offering sightseeing cruises and culinary events during the summer season.

The vessel sank twice, in 1937 and 1967, and was successfully salvaged and restored on both occasions.

In 2005, the Norwegian Directorate for Cultural Heritage officially listed the Skibladner as a protected industrial monument, making it the first operational machine to receive such status in Norway. Its name refers to Skidbladnir, the mythical ship of the god Freyr in Norse mythology.

This rich heritage is faithfully reflected in this wooden model kit to build at 1/60 scale. Once completed, the model measures 830 mm in length, offering an impressive presence whether displayed as a static model or used as a radio-controlled boat.

The construction follows a traditional plank-on-frame method, highly appreciated by wooden ship modelers for its strength and respect of the original hull lines.

The kit is entirely made of wood, with laser-cut parts ensuring excellent accuracy and ease of assembly.

All components required for construction are included: hull structure, superstructures, decorative elements and fittings.

The fittings are particularly refined, combining laser-cut wooden and plastic parts with highly detailed 3D-printed resin components, resulting in a realistic and precise finish.

This wooden ship model for adults is supplied with a fully illustrated step-by-step 3D assembly manual, guiding the builder throughout the construction process while leaving room for craftsmanship and personal skill.

The model also allows the installation of functional lighting, enhancing the visual appeal of the paddle wheels and the elegant lines of the steamer.

The Skibladner 1/60 can be built either as a static display model or converted into a radio-controlled model.

The RC equipment is not included, allowing modelers to select components according to their preferences.

A dedicated electric motorization kit (ref. S0554600) is available separately and is specifically designed to fit the hull.

Due to its size, the model cannot accommodate a real steam engine; electric propulsion is therefore the recommended solution.

For RC operation, the required equipment includes a minimum two-channel radio system, the S0554600 motorization kit, an electronic speed controller Z54HWQR1060 and a 2S Li-Po battery (around 1000 mAh or equivalent).
